Guardianship in Texas

There are different types of guardianship depending on age and legal disability of the individual.   A guardianship can be established for a minor or an adult.  The individual under a guardianship is referred to as the Ward.  In both cases, a guardianship is established for the Ward’s “estate” (to manage the assets of the Ward and take care of their financial needs) and a guardianship for the “person” to provide for the Ward’s physical needs (e.g., residence, medical care, etc.).  Guaranty Bank & Trust regularly serves as guardianship of estates for Wards when appointed by the court.
